The 5th Skirting Science in 2013, took place at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College . It was attended by Year 9 girls from schools across North Somerset, Somerset and Bristol. Rebecca Brooks, who opened the event, was made known to the organisers by Heather Williams and sciencegrrl – www.sciencegrrl.co.uk/. Female scientists all over the place are members of sciencegrrl whose aim is to promote science to girls. Becky’s opening talk included some great videos she had taken including one of a white blood cell pursuing and engulfing a bacterium.
